Xavier Johnson and Eileen Gehring were named CU Athletes of the Week on Wednesday for their athletic accomplishments the week of Dec. 9-15.

The CU track and field team had several athletes compete on Friday afternoon at the U.S. Air Force Academy Holiday Open.

Jason DeWitt and Brittany Lewis finished first overall at Orediggers Early Bird Multi in the pentathlon and heptathlon, respectively, to record a successful first meet for the University of Colorado track program.

Jenny Simpson ran a gutsy 1,500-meter race at the 2013 IAAF World Championships and took home the silver after finishing in 4:02.99.
